Rincon del Rio ~ is roughly half way between Auburn (county seat of Placer County) and Grass Valley/Nevada City (Nevada County). Both of these historic towns are well known for their California Gold Rush history and boast the best preserved historic downtowns in the state. Auburn is home of the Auburn State Recreation Area. Within the boundaries of this state park are more sporting endurance events than any other place in the world, giving Auburn the undisputed and internationally-acclaimed title of Endurance Capital of the World. Examples include the Western States 100 mile endurance run and Tevis Cup 100 mile equestrian ride.
All year long there are fairs to wander and farms that bring wonder. Experience summer festivals that are cool and Christmas festivities that will make you feel warm. Attend rodeos that rock, church suppers that sizzle, and famous farmers’ markets. We enjoy community cookouts, Christmas parades, and July 4th celebrations. And then there are those events that you’ve never heard of . . . like Mardi Gras in Nevada City.
Explore your surroundings and let them enrich your life.
